About Jane

Jane Reed has a BA (Hons) in IT with a Diploma in Spanish and a PGCE-PCE.

During her life, she has lived and worked in Belgium, France, Spain, (teaching Spanish to the English), Africa and the Far East.

With her cultural knowledge and teaching experience, she is very enthusiastic about what she can bring to the area as regards language learning.

Jane has been teaching IT and Spanish in Chesterfield for ten years and is currently teaching English to Adults for the Skills for Life government initiative.

She has tutored GCSE students in Spanish and French and achieved very good results.

Her Family Learning Spanish classes were a great success, over a five-year period, teaching for Derbyshire County Council Adult Education department.

However, it has always been her ambition to open a learning centre, where the courses can be tailored to learners needs.

"My main aim is to get people talking and to not be afraid to try. I know it is nerve-wracking, as I felt the same when I first started to learn languages. I aim to build the students' understanding of the need to be emphatic when speaking and hopefully, this will result in a growth in confidence when speaking a modern foreign language.

I hope that at the end of a course, everyone understands that it really is possible to speak more than one language and, in doing so, to know more about the world and its cultural diversity'. (Jane Reed-August 2008)

More recently, the Centre has started to offer Online ESOL classes acquiring students from as far away as Russia and New York!

Please enquire for more details and come and have fun learning a language. I look forward to meeting you all!

You may have noticed a link to the Complementary Therapy side of the business. Jane has been interested in remedial therapy since training as an Aromatherapist in 1998, although qualified earlier as a Beauty Therapist in 1980! She has, more recently, gained level 3 qualifications in Head Massage and Stone Therapy and says:

'These therapies offer a fantastic solution to the maintenance of good health and well-being and it feels great to be able to help people feel so much better. Why not come along and try one? It could change your life!'

Best wishes
